The Iconic Puzzle Game Couldn't Win at This Gaming Ceremony — Another Award Type May Address This Issue

Whenever a prominent honors show draws close, one notices a clamor for the addition additional classifications to recognize overlooked contributions and satisfy the hearts of enthusiasts with niche passions.

My colleague previously argued supporting a scary games classification. That would rule. So would tabletop games, representing a passionate advocate's mission. However, I must insist if I try to elbow in front since similar to dedicated enthusiasts, there's a strong justification for why my demand is the most urgent above others. Here's the proposal: It's essential to create a classification for brain-teasing titles.

The Genre Classification Challenge

Organizing artistic expressions is not a science; it remains highly personal, and inevitably start arguments concluding with vague boundaries. This explains why movie academies don’t do it. However, it represents a necessary evil within the realm of video games, that demonstrate such variety they hardly constitute one unified medium.

For the full spectrum of gaming accomplishments to gain proper attention, while allowing diverse titles to receive proper recognition, genre categories are essential.

Current Gaming Award Categories

Prominent interactive entertainment events offer these classifications covering Action-oriented games, Adventure-action titles, Role-Playing, Combat games, Simulation and strategy titles, plus athletic and racing experiences. Collectively, these award types actually cover many game types, allowing placement for most games within them.

Different situation exists for puzzle games. No suitable classification appears to put them. Consider three of recent excellent titles, each quite distinct: building puzzles in a particular game, intense tile-matching in a different title, engaging interpersonal challenges from additional release. What category would fit them among existing types? Nowhere, that’s where.

Recognition Challenges

There are dozens excellent brain-teasers launched regularly lacking appropriate categories during gaming ceremonies, unless they happen to qualify classification types such as Handheld titles, Virtual reality experiences, or the extremely competitive Indie races.

  • An iconic brain-teaser received no recognition in any category that year
  • Another creative title missed out in 2019
  • Popular arranging title received no acknowledgment recently
  • Just some puzzle games managed to sneak into small studio or handheld classifications

Importance of Logic Titles

Commonly they're compact experiences, but the art of the puzzle game holds tremendous importance. Famous handheld logic titles stand as most engaged experiences globally continuing this trend for many years.

The legendary block-stacking game competes with famous sandbox experiences for the title of highest-selling title ever; it additionally competes for best game of all time. Logic titles represent cornerstones for gaming as medium, and engaging with diverse game types.

Recommendation and Reasoning

Logic titles wouldn't face this problem. It would be easy to populate a field of five engaging, different, qualified experiences each ceremony simply — actually, with challenge, given the need to exclude numerous deserving experiences.

Restating the point, these are games that otherwise have no home in important events. Logic title developers function at the challenging frontier of video game design, developing some of the purest expressions of gaming itself. Similar to cinema stunt performers, they deserve recognition. Let’s not keep them waiting 35 years.
